The Department of Social Services in Sharjah chose to celebrate the 52nd National Day with the elderly members of the department and residents of the nursing home, to achieve the goal of integrating the elderly with the rest of the community on this National Day, as the home was transformed last Wednesday into a festival that included all segments of society. . More than 13 governmental and private agencies participated in this day’s activities, according to Maryam Al-Qatari, director of the house, who expressed her happiness with the community participation and positive feeling towards our elders, who were overwhelmed by the happy atmosphere in the house, where the celebrations began in the morning and continued into the afternoon due to the public’s interest in the house. . Al-Qatari said that the elderly members of the home did not only attend, but some of them contributed to the activities of the ceremony program, as one of the members presented at the beginning of the program, which was held in a tent in the courtyard of the home, a fragrant recitation of the verses of the Holy Quran. Others participated by presenting paragraphs and answering questions. The celebration included various segments, including a poetry reading by the poet Ali Al-Shuwain, the content of which addressed the joy of National Day. Several schools also participated in presenting artistic segments, and the actor Abdullah Bu Abed participated in artistic segments with the audience. Maryam Bint Ghanem School also performed a lyrical dance and presented a heritage segment about the wedding at the traditional Emirati wedding from Hayyakum Foundation is closer to heritage, the Amiri Guard Nursery participated in an artistic segment, the Dibba Military Band presented a Yula show, and the Emirates Friends of Senior Citizens Association participated by offering competitions and gifts for the elderly. The celebration included outdoor performances that included cooking popular dishes such as luqaimat, harees, Omani sweets, and ragag bread. It is noteworthy that all departments, centers and houses affiliated with the department participated in the celebration.
