Within the framework of the activities of the 11th Senior Services Forum, organized by the Sharjah Social Services Department, 80 entities were honored with the title of “Age-Friendly Institution” as part of the fourth session of the Sharjah Office’s Age-Friendly Initiative. These entities obtained the title of “age-sensitive institution” after meeting more than 11% of the specific standards and requirements that focused on three main axes, including the structural design of buildings and their vitality, the distinctive facilities and services provided to the elderly, as well as empowerment, integration and participation, in addition to other features. The XNUMX entities that received the title of “Age-Friendly Institution” were: Sharjah Aquarium, Sharjah Marine Museum, Islamic Park, Sharjah Archeology Museum, Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization, Khor Fakkan Hospital, Sharjah Airport, Kalba Municipality, Sharjah Housing Program - Kalba Branch, and Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority at Muwaileh Subscriber Service Center, And DoubleTree Hilton Hotel - Sharjah. In this context, Asma Al-Khudari, Director of the Sharjah Office, praised the age-friendly city. The efforts of the entities that received the title and their effective role in strengthening their infrastructure to be compatible with different age groups, calling on the rest of the institutions that were unable to meet the required standards to develop their standards and enhance their readiness to the required level, noting that the initiative is considered an encouragement and motivation for all institutions to adopt and implement city standards and initiatives. Age sensitive. Al-Khudari stressed that this initiative targets all institutions in the Emirate of Sharjah, whether governmental, civil society institutions, or the private sector, with the aim of promoting the concept of age-friendly cities to reflect the diversity and inclusivity that characterizes the United Arab Emirates, calling on more institutions to engage in this valuable initiative, with the aim of achieving A sustainable and comfortable environment for all members of society, including the elderly who deserve comfort and special respect.
