Kholoud Abdullah Al Ali, Director of the Elderly Services Center of the Department of Social Services in Sharjah, confirmed that the center dealt with nearly 8 requests for home care services for the benefit of senior citizens, the disabled, the mentally ill and their families in the homes of the city of Sharjah and Khor Fakkan, Dibba Al-Hisn and Kalba, in addition to Al Hamriya, Al Dhaid, Al Madam, Al Bataeh, and Maliha, from the beginning of 2021 until this July. Al Ali said: The service is provided through a trained work team, and through several mobile units that roam the homes of the beneficiary cases registered at the Elderly Services Center, including parents of senior citizens, bedridden patients, mental patients, and the disabled while they are in their homes. She explained that this is done starting with the necessary home visits to provide health services and delivery of medicines, and continuous coordination with the sitters and escorts to guide them on how to measure pressure or sugar, and provide the dose of medicine according to the recommended, in addition to providing daily instructions and consultations via phone call from the social specialist and checking on their condition. She added that all this contributes to reducing the number of visitors from these categories to hospitals and their facilities in order to preserve them. The Director of the Elderly Services Center indicated that the home vaccination service is provided to these groups, as it is dealt with as quickly as required according to the plans and procedures that were developed in order to provide the vaccine to this group of society and ensure that they enjoy adequate protection from exposure to the Corona virus, in addition to providing treatment sessions. The natural home, whose essential needs require the continuation of the treatment sessions in accordance with the health and precautionary measures followed, and recommended by the doctor. She pointed out that the Department of Social Services in Sharjah is specialized in establishing social care homes, providing home care services, protecting the vulnerable, providing social support, rehabilitation for needy groups, preparing and implementing social studies and research. The elderly and people with disabilities, in addition to providing quality services for those in special circumstances that require social protection, such as abused mothers, children of inmates of penal and correctional institutions, mental and mental patients, people with emergency crises, and other groups of society with its citizens and residents, all of whom are covered by the umbrella of social services.
