In cooperation with the Holy Quran and the Prophetic Sunnah Foundation in Sharjah, the Department of Social Services in Sharjah continues to memorize and teach the Holy Qur’an to about 92 elderly parents who are affiliated with the department remotely through smart platforms and applications, in implementation of the department’s plan to ensure social integration of the elderly And maintain their health and safety. The initiative aims to enhance the communication of the elderly with the Holy Qur’an and not stop them from the Qur’anic episodes and their memorization of all the surahs correctly, as 10 episodes have been implemented so far, especially since these episodes won great approval and satisfaction from them as well as their happiness. Maryam Al-Qatari, Executive Director of Social Welfare and Protection Affairs, said: This Quranic episode comes within a series of educational programs provided to the elderly to develop the skills of the elderly members of the department by offering programs, training courses and introductory and rehabilitative lectures to reach a society that enjoys an integrated quality of life. Maryam Al-Qatari added that these programs aimed at the elderly have diversified through training workshops and introductory lectures; And awareness programs in the field of prevention and safety in homes, educational programs for the use of modern technologies and smart devices, in addition to a number of lectures that dealt with lessons in creativity, innovation and volunteering given by specialists. Noting that the “learning initiative” was launched since the year 2019 AD, about 547 affiliates benefited from it during the past year, and 207 for the first half of this year, at the level of the Emirate of Sharjah in each of: Elderly Care Home, Women’s Protection Center, and Al Asala Clubs in each of the affiliates of Al Hamriya, Al Dhaid and Al Madam branches, Al Bataih, Kalba, Khor Fakkan, Dibba Al Hisn, and Maliha.
