The Department of Social Services in Sharjah is preparing to host the Eighth Forum for Elderly Services, which comes under the slogan “Empowerment and Active Participation of the Elderly,” as the forum will be held on the second of next October, in the Al-Jawaher Center for Events and Conferences, located near Sharjah Airport. The forum will be held every year; Under the generous patronage of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Sharjah. Jassim Al Hammadi said; Director of Knowledge Management, Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the Forum; The forum aims to exchange experiences with international bodies regarding empowerment initiatives and programs that achieve the effective participation of the elderly, as well as access to the latest global experiences by identifying the requirements for developing social policies achieved to improve quality services in the field of mental health and social inclusion to improve the quality of services The Director of Knowledge Management added that the forum seeks to enhance the skills of employing technology in support of opportunities for social integration for the elderly through learning about the latest electronic culture mechanisms. 4 main sessions and the Chairman of the Scientific Committee explained; The forum includes four main sessions, where the first session deals with international experiences in upgrading elderly services and creating empowerment and integration, while the second session includes: requirements for developing social policies for institutions concerned with the elderly, and the third session, in which the experiences of improving psychological services for the elderly are reviewed As for the last session, It deals with experiences of using technology and media to support opportunities for cultural and social empowerment. In addition to the main sessions, the Forum will host a professional workshop, given by an Irish expert, in which she reviews Ireland's experience in the field of age-friendly cities programs.
