In the presence of His Excellency Afaf Ibrahim Al Marri, Head of the Department of Social Services, the Sharjah Office for Age-Friendly Cities, affiliated with the Department, organized a ceremony in honor of the second “Partners Meeting.” The ceremony was held in the hall of the Sheraton Sharjah Hotel on Tuesday, December 19. The meeting aimed to honor all categories and partner entities from government institutions and departments at the level of the Emirate of Sharjah, which have contributed positively to enhancing the initiatives and programs of age-friendly cities. Results of indicators that reached 27% of the work of the strategic plan for the 99-2021 cycle. During her welcoming speech; Asma Al-Khudari, Director of the Sharjah Office for Age-Friendly Cities, confirmed that this meeting comes within the framework of strengthening local partnerships and improving the quality of life of the elderly. The meeting also highlights the office’s role in facing current challenges in cooperation with its partners from governmental and private institutions and the private sector. Al-Khudari expressed her thanks and appreciation to all the partner entities that cooperated with the office in order to enhance services and initiatives for the Sharjah community. She also appreciated the role of the coordinators and their active keenness to enhance communication with the office and facilitate ways of cooperation with their entities and the office. It is noteworthy that the Sharjah Age-Friendly Office has a leadership position in the field of elderly care, especially since the Emirate of Sharjah has been the only Arab member of the Global Network of Age-Friendly Cities since 2023.
