A mobile salon for senior citizens, a distinguished service added to the balance of the Department of Social Services in Sharjah, which spares no effort in providing services, programs and initiatives that bring joy and happiness to senior citizens, and the Department’s Senior Services Center continuously seeks to create new ideas that are in their interest. Hence came the idea of the mobile salon for senior citizens - says Kholoud Al Ali, Director of the Senior Citizens Services Center - as a new addition to our various services at the center, which include the city of Sharjah and the branches affiliated with the department. Regarding the goal of the mobile salon, Al Ali answered, “Our goal is to provide self-care services to senior citizens registered in home care as a type of new services that the department is accustomed to providing to members as part of a series of innovative social services annually. As for the “mobile salon for senior citizens” service, it was launched only two months ago. The number of beneficiaries of the service in Sharjah and the branches has so far exceeded 60 male and female members, and work is underway to provide the service to the largest number of male and female affiliates whom the field visit proves to be in need of it, especially since the initiative had a good impact on the hearts of senior citizens. The director of the Elderly Services Center goes on to say, “We have developed a plan for visits according to each member’s need for the service, not less than twice a week, and the services are provided by a specialized team that is agreed upon by the center and is qualified and trained to provide the service to this age group specifically.” She points out that the mobile salon service for senior citizens falls within the strategic activity of the Senior Citizens Services Center, which is about offering innovative home social services, as the “Mishwar” service was previously launched, which works to deliver senior citizens from their homes to the places they want to visit, and currently Mobile salon service, and we are in the process of launching other services in the coming months.
