The use of electronic devices and social sites was a basic requirement in our lives imposed by the life conditions that we lived or that we are currently living in, the most prominent of which is the Corona pandemic, which turned things upside down, in our diaries and in our social, professional, health and other relationships, so our relationship and life turned into a virtual life, which forced us even more More and more people are in front of electronic tablets and computers, and on the other hand, the volume of family dialogue in the family has diminished, and every member of it has become in front of his computer or electronic tablet. All of these things resulted in a lot of problems, especially with regard to children’s use of these devices, and we began to hear a lot about electronic problems, the victims of which are children, says Maryam Al-Qaseer, Director of the Social Education Department at the Department of Social Services in Sharjah, due to the lack of dialogue and discussion between members of the same family. After the end of the pandemic, these problems emerged, which began to disturb not only the family, but society as a whole, especially since many parents let their children play on mobile phones for long periods of time, which resulted in family problems that were not previously known. For example, one of the mothers says that she She used to leave the mobile phone with her son of a year and a half for hours and hours, and he no longer responded to those around him, and later she discovered that he has autism spectrum. The child’s depression no longer has any sense of his surroundings. On the contrary, he is completely separated, and the increase in watching time for hours and hours leads to autism. There is another story of a mother who was forced to carry her son with her to work when he was 6 months old and distract him with the mobile. Unfortunately, he also developed the autism spectrum. Al-Qusayr follows, from here we stress the necessity of family dialogue on a daily basis, even for a short period, as it is the greatest weapon to confront the problems of the Internet and communication sites. Al-Qasir says, because of the electronic problems, we began to receive requests from schools and parents that we need to launch a program that includes providing educational workshops on digital safety, which means the correct use of electronic devices and websites, and the various and multiple methods whose purpose is to protect electronic accounts and the Internet related to computers and protect files from infiltration and interference from Intruders through websites, so that 3 categories are educated: parents, students of all educational levels, and the elderly. default. And it turns out that the stories that we found in schools are about cases of electronic bullying due to one student intruding on another student, by sequencing his electronic page, where each student has a personal account that he uses to access programs and classes, but it happens that a student reveals his account number to another child, and the accounts are hacked Intrusion and often abuse begins by putting inappropriate pictures or writing wrong answers in a subject so that the student fails and so on. As for the elderly, they are also vulnerable to hacking by intruders who exploit them because they do not know how to use electronic devices and ask for their account numbers. As for parents, the program directs them to take the right behavior regarding raising awareness and dealing properly with their children and monitoring them intelligently. Al-Qasir commented, and in agreement with the information technology department in the department, we developed a digital safety strategy for three categories: children, parents, and the elderly, who are also vulnerable to deception and theft through phone calls. For example, they receive a call from one of them stating that his identity has expired and he must renew it, asking Its number so that they can identify all his data and withdraw the amounts in his account. As for children, it must be a correct use through the digital safety program for children provided by the Department of Social Education to increase their awareness of this aspect through our participation in events, events, open exhibitions, our visits to schools and others, where it is presented Dramatic scenes that simulate what happens in chat rooms or through games, and the correct action to be taken in the event of a hack is shown. And for parents: The program raises awareness of the need to open the “paternity feature” that is available on all digital devices, be it phones or computers, especially those used by children and linked to the mother’s or father’s device, so they receive a notification that the owner of this number wants to download this program. Do you agree? They can no longer download any program or feature without the consent of the guardian, once they click on the word decline. The duration of use through applications and the period determined by the parents. And she continued, saying that our access to websites and platforms, and our use of electronic programs at the present time has become a necessary requirement and need, because we are all exposed to a threat from people who use electronic devices to harm others, but by applying digital safety, security and protection are achieved for us. Studies have shown that the use of smart phones in early childhood up to 4 years has serious negative effects on them, specifically autism, and exposure to piracy for the older group. Al-Qusayr warns of the games that children play on electronic devices, where the child does not know who is sharing the game with him and talks with him to establish a friendship between them and start with many questions. The situation becomes more dangerous, after exchanging WhatsApp numbers, Snapchat, Tik Tok, etc., and requesting the exchange of pictures, leading to the start of the extortion stage. The negatives of using websites are a waste of time, exposure to piracy, reduced real-life social communication, and annoying strangers that threaten digital safety. And she recommends following safe use: for example, accepting communication and adding only people we know realistically on social networking sites, ensuring the source of the links that reach us, before opening them, that they are from trusted sources. And keep the confidentiality of personal information by not publishing or sending it to whoever requests it. It is also preferable to replace personal images with symbolic images without disclosing the personal passcode. It is preferable that the passcode not be unified on all electronic programs and that it be changed from time to time and is characterized by strength. It is also advised not to download programs and games except from their original website, and to keep computer protection updated with antiviruses and internet browsers. When communicating with others, we must take into account ethical values, whether in voice conversations, comments, or the use of symbols. Not using open Wi-Fi networks in public places, buying from well-known and secured commercial sites, and using prepaid Visa shopping cards. Finally, inform the parents or ask for help from an adult you trust. Attendance and inform the management of the electronic program.
