On the occasion of the World Humanitarian Day, which the world celebrates on August 19 each year, the Department of Social Services in Sharjah, organized by the Sharjah Center for Voluntary Work, launched a community initiative under the slogan "Humanitarian Sharjah" by implementing a number of volunteer initiatives by distributing snacks and ice cream For road users and gas station workers, as well as by supporting the organizational and supervisory work in the vaccination centers in the Emirate, with the aim of promoting the values ​​of compassion and the importance of humanitarian work and its role in embodying social cohesion and solidarity among members of society. The initiative, which is implemented as a humanitarian occasion, is based on field visits to a number of streets and roads in the emirate to target road users, as well as at the locations of gas stations to target their workers. Many government agencies participate in this community initiative, namely the Department of Social Services, the Department of Community Policing at the General Command of Sharjah Police, Kalba Comprehensive Police Station, Sharjah Education Council, Sharjah Sports Council, Department of Islamic Affairs, Friends of Breastfeeding Association, Sharjah Cooperative Society, Department of Awqaf, Sharjah Airport Authority, and each entity provides its humanitarian work in its own way and what it deems appropriate according to its specialization and field of work, while the participation of the Department of Social Services is based on field visits to the Goodness and Blessing Team consisting of senior citizens over 60 years of age and over, who seek to implement initiatives Volunteer, taking care to adhere to precautionary and health measures.
