The Department of Social Services in Sharjah held a professional forum under the slogan "Promoting Professional Practice in Social Work" targeting professional groups working in the social field in the Emirate of Sharjah, at the Sheraton Hotel - Sharjah. The forum touched on a number of axes, starting with introducing the participants to the concept of professional practice in social work, and the importance of controlling and organizing social professions; the forum also dealt with the rules of professional practice in the light of international standards according to the requirements of established values ​​and professional ethics, in addition to explaining the mechanisms of how to prepare the social specialist in theory And professionally, to be qualified to practice the profession, in addition to discussing the most important success requirements that are based on issues of sound professional practices. Kholoud Al-Nuaimi, Director of the Department of Social Licensing in the Department, stressed that the forum aims to enhance the quality of the professional practice of social work, develop professional competencies for social workers, and develop visions that contribute to the conduct of social professions. The forum also clarifies the controls and services of licensing the social sector and upgrading it to advanced levels of quality and safety And in a way that guarantees the protection of individuals as well as the general interest of society. Al-Naimi added that the forum was part of a series of professional forums that the department intends to implement during its strategy to upgrade social welfare services in accordance with best practices, to enhance awareness of the importance of professional licensing to ensure the safety of vulnerable individuals and families in the community, where more than 100 registered participants from professionals attend Social and a number of experts, academic and experienced professionals who enrich the forum with their experiences and interventions. The Director of the Social Licensing Department confirmed that the department continues to enhance the service for licensing the practice of social professions in the Emirate of Sharjah, with a view to codifying social professions and organizing their mechanisms for professionally qualified academically and practically, in implementation of Executive Council Resolution No. 17 of 2018 regarding the regulation of social professions in the Emirate of Sharjah. The launch of the professional license to accompany the changes of the state and for its part, Dr. Makiya Jumaa Hemat, associate professor of sociology at the University of Sharjah, during her discussion in the forum noted that the importance of professional licensing for social work contributes to strengthening the social profession in its institutional frameworks on the one hand, and in terms of developing knowledge and skills Practitioners of social work on the other hand.
