The Department of Social Services announced the launch of the (First Generations Festival) for the elderly, organized by the Home Care Department of the Social Services Department, at Al Nouf Park in Sharjah, tomorrow, Thursday, 29th of March, from four to ten in the evening, in cooperation with the Sharjah City Municipality. Sharjah Police General Command, Maritime Museum, Civil Defense, Sharjah Sports Council. Sumaya Saif Al Shamsi, Head of Authenticity Clubs for Seniors said: The festival aims to be organized by the department in cooperation with governmental and private institutions; To make the elderly happy by investing their time in the heritage workshops provided to them as well as various programs, and the festival also offers its activities to families and with children through a set of programs aimed at reuniting the entire family in one festival, and this initiative is considered a community that was launched in line with the "Year of Zayed." Launched by our wise government, that the year 2018 bears the slogan 'Year of Zayed' as a national occasion to celebrate the founding leader, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, "may God rest his soul." Al Shamsi added; The festival's activities include a package of programs that include: heritage and educational workshops, competitions and games for adults and children, hosting popular groups, children's classes, popular coffee, productive beds, henna, photography corner, and youth rest. Noting that the event contains 11 corners for productive families, an exhibition for the Asala Club that includes products for the elderly, a special corner for children’s studio and workshops, a corner for a cooking competition, in addition to a sports corner for skills development, and the Sharjah Sports Council has prepared 3 sports fields for children. She emphasized that the programs presented come to meet the aspirations of the elderly and implement their recreational and societal right to integrate them and involve them in community events, especially since such events come within the initiatives of Sharjah, an age-sensitive city, which guarantees this segment a decent life that rises to the level of happiness and well-being, as well as the involvement of community members in Make old people happy.
