The Child Safety Department, in cooperation with the Social Services Department, Sharjah Police General Command and Sharjah Civil Defence Authority, launched the "Their Safety First" campaign, which aims to raise awareness among children and their parents about the importance of adhering to safety procedures during winter activities such as cycling, camping, and others. The first visit was dedicated to family gathering sites in the Al Rahmaniya area. The campaign was attended by Ms. Maryam Ismail Al Ali - Director of the Women's Protection Center, and Mr. Khaled Al Kathiri - Head of the Child Helpline Department, based on the principle of community participation and exchange of expertise between government and private institutions. The Social Services Department, in cooperation with the Child Safety Department, plays a pivotal role in achieving comprehensive protection for children, as joint efforts focus on providing a safe and stable environment that guarantees children's rights and preserves their dignity. The two parties adopt an integrated system of initiatives and services that aim to address abuse in all its forms, whether physical, psychological or social. Through specialized teams with judicial police status, reports received via the hotline or dedicated channels are dealt with quickly and efficiently, to ensure urgent intervention and protection of affected children. Sharjah Social Affairs stressed that its role is not limited to intervening when abuse occurs, but also includes spreading community awareness about the importance of protecting children, and cooperating with families, educational and health institutions to promote a culture of shared responsibility. In this context, the “Helpline” and “Accountable Observer” are effective tools that enhance the speed of response and enable the community to contribute to reporting cases that threaten the safety of children, and that achieving protection for children is not just an individual responsibility, but a collective commitment aimed at building a safer and more stable future for all children in society.
