The Sharjah Social Services Department is implementing a series of awareness workshops targeting educational and administrative cadres in schools, within the framework of the Community Prevention Program in Schools, where the program is implemented in coordination between the Emirates Schools Establishment and Sharjah Police. The program is implemented at the level of schools in the Emirate of Sharjah with the aim of enhancing the capabilities of members of the school system in monitoring the manifestations and effects of child abuse or violence in its early stages. The program aims to enhance the effectiveness of protection partners by enabling educational cadres to monitor and identify early signs of abuse, and to work in coordination with child protection units in schools to achieve an effective partnership in protecting children. Enhancing child protection in the school environment In this context, Dr. Jassim Al Hammadi, Director of Knowledge Management, explained that the department focuses on enhancing child protection and ensuring their proper upbringing, noting that the school environment plays a major role in this area. Al Hammadi pointed out that the program is being implemented gradually in schools in the Emirate of Sharjah, in cooperation with our partners such as the Emirates Schools Establishment and Sharjah Police. The program also seeks to enhance cooperation between the family and the school to create a more expanded and coordinated social protection network. The programme also focuses on mechanisms for early detection of abuse or violence against children, while identifying protection measures for children at risk through the Child Helpline. The Child Helpline is a free line that receives reports 24 hours a day, via the number 800700. The department is keen to make every possible effort to ensure a safe and supportive educational environment for students at the beginning of the new school year.
