With the beginning of the school year, the activities of the "Welcome to My School" campaign, organized by the Social Education Department at the Sharjah Social Services Department, were launched for the second year in a row. The campaign aims to achieve a safe return to schools, in the first stage and kindergartens. Yesterday morning, social educators from the Social Education Department headed to schools to meet young students. The visits included many private and public schools in Sharjah, which had been coordinated with previously. Maryam Al Qasir, Director of the Social Education Department, explained the campaign by saying that many families do not plan how to teach their children to receive the first school day without problems, which causes crying, fear and panic when they leave their young child alone at school, which negatively affects the child and leads to him not wanting to go to school again. This may leave negative effects that last for a long time, hence the idea of "Ahla Madrasati" which targeted children directly at their school desks, to raise their awareness and encourage them to go to school by explaining the benefits and also organizing an interesting program based on entertainment with science and teaching them some steps such as safety and hygiene procedures, washing their hands, riding buses and how to make friends with their peers. Al-Qasir says, "We also ask the mother to stay with her child in the first few days for several hours so that he gets used to his teacher and peers because he is somewhat alert because he does not know who these faces are, what they do and why he is here, in this environment that is completely different from his usual environment and familiar faces. All these questions and others are answered by the social educator who makes the child love his school, teacher and peers. The initiative lasts from two weeks to a month. She advises parents to start getting the child used to going to school by preparing them well in advance and taking them to buy stationery and choose their bag and school supplies and other things and using motivating words: You are a smart, distinguished hero...etc.
