The Department of Social Services in Sharjah participated in the activities of the Sharjah Sports Summer, in its tenth session, which lasted for a full month from 1-7 to 1-8, under the slogan “Our Holiday Is Not,” and was organized by the Maliha Sports Club. Its activities concluded a few days ago and witnessed a remarkable diversity in activities. And events, and participation from various government departments, with the participation of children between 7-17 years. On this occasion, Maryam Al Qaseer, Director of the Social Education Department, stressed the keenness of the Social Services Department to participate in the various activities held in Sharjah, which contributes to more awareness of its social, awareness and humanitarian role at the community level. As well as based on the principle of permanent cooperation between all different community institutions to activate community participation. She said, Sharjah Summer Sports activities are among the main activities on the emirate’s map, especially since they are organized during the summer vacation with the aim of investing in children’s time, as it coincides with school vacations, and includes many diverse activities that suit everyone. She added, over the course of a whole month, the social intellectuals affiliated with the Social Education Department presented daily three diverse activities that focused on the themes chosen by the Sharjah Sports Council, which were “I am an athlete” to encourage practicing sports and considering it a way of life and organizing sports programs on the sidelines of the program, and the second was “national identity” to increase Promoting children’s affiliation to love of the homeland and national heritage through workshops, the third “Sustainability” emphasizing the importance of sustainability and investing in the role of sports in introducing it to participants, the fourth “I am a volunteer” to motivate participants to participate in volunteer programs and volunteer teams in various events, and the fifth “Here is Sharjah” which is concerned with highlighting Tourist attractions and museums in the emirate, organizing visits, and providing workshops for children with the aim of raising awareness among students, consolidating authentic values, preserving national identity, and focusing on sustainability, the future, and cultural, societal, and religious affiliation. She stated that the Safe Digital Life Ambassadors also participated in the events and provided advice to their peers, especially regarding how to safely use the computer and websites, and not get carried away by misleading propaganda and advertisements, and in return, work to invest time in what is beneficial to them.
