What makes a child more happy during holidays and occasions than receiving an Eid gift and new clothes to wear during the Eid? “Eid Joy Fund” is a project that was created by the Department of Social Services in Sharjah and launched ten years ago and is still continuing to this day, because it has achieved its desired goal... It is to make children happy with Eid, and share with them the joy of Eid, so that they do not feel lonely on this occasion. The department, represented by the Department of Community Cohesion, and under the “Social Responsibility” projects, distributes joy boxes to children who benefit from the department’s services, and they are those who have lost social care and children in homes such as the Center. Child and Family Protection, Dar Al-Aman, and the Women’s Protection Center, in addition to the Elderly Care Home, where there are a number of children with disabilities, and the Minors’ Services Center, during Eid Al-Fitr and Eid Al-Adha. On this occasion, Hessa Al Hammadi, Director of the Community Cohesion Department, invited community members, institutions and departments from all sectors to participate in this project, which falls under social responsibility projects, so that joy may spread to all children during Eid Al Adha, whether through funds or material donations through children’s bank accounts. Al Hammadi indicated that “Eid Joy” boxes are currently available at City Center Al Zahia in Sharjah, where there is a special corner for distribution for those wishing to participate by purchasing clothes or gifts from “Al Zahia” and placing them in the box based on the requests present with the volunteers in the corner, and also to allow space For children, by packing their gifts for their counterparts in a box, it makes them happy as they carry out this task, which instills in them responsibility and community participation from an early age. The boxes are then prepared for distribution by a group of volunteers to the child beneficiaries in their homes two days before Eid Al-Adha. Al-Hammadi explained that gifts include in-kind and material gifts for children from newborns up to 18 years of age, from the children of beneficiaries of the department and its affiliated children’s homes. The “Eid Joy” project was launched in 2013, with the aim of community institutions participating in making children happy, through their donation either of in-kind gifts, or Money through transferring the Eidiya directly to the child’s bank account or his representative.
