The Licensing and Social Work Development Department of the Department of Social Services in Sharjah organized the “Learning Disabilities Strategy” workshop, in cooperation with the Sharjah Center for Learning Disabilities in the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services. The workshop, which was held on the 16th (remotely) and the 22nd (in-person) of this month, targeted, Social professionals are special education teachers working in private centers and schools in the Emirate of Sharjah. The workshop was presented by Ahmed Al-Najjar and Muhannad Al-Shuraiqi (special education teachers in Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services). Kholoud Al Nuaimi, Director of the Department of Social Work Licensing and Development at the Department, said that the Department, represented by the Training Division, is keen to periodically organize scientific, educational, awareness-raising and cultural workshops at a rate of two to four times a month, where different and diverse titles are chosen, with the aim of advancing social work and developing social professionals who are granted by the Department. Social Services Licenses to practice social work in the Emirate of Sharjah, and several categories fall under them: social workers, psychologists, special education teachers, occupational therapists, and behavior analysts. She pointed out that the workshop dealt with introducing strategies for learning difficulties from the academic side and how to read reports. The first day, which was held remotely, covered an introduction to learning difficulties, while the second day dealt with practical exercises related to assessing the level of workers in the field of knowledge about learning difficulties.
