The Director of the Social Services Department in the Khor Fakkan branch, Ahmed Nasser Al-Naqbi, stated that the Elderly Care Division in the department provides home care for 535 senior citizens, psychiatric patients, and people of determination, while 20 patients receive intensive home care due to the nature of their health condition. He stated that the division was established in 2003 to serve the elderly, the mentally ill, and people of determination, and to enable them to integrate into society by rehabilitating them socially and enhancing their abilities, or stabilizing them, through the necessary rehabilitative health care services and periodic follow-up of their health conditions, in addition to the supportive services and support based on their care. He pointed out that senior citizens, psychiatric patients, and people of determination receive physical therapy, and care is provided to them through the Al-Asala Club, which provides social and recreational activities and physical therapy sessions. Al-Naqbi said that the Elderly Care Division plays an important role in achieving a set of vital goals, as it focuses on providing services that include health, psychological and social care for senior citizens in their familiar surroundings, which contributes to enhancing their quality of life and well-being. The Division also seeks to empower the families of its members by guiding and training them to properly care for them within their homes, to reduce the burden of daily care for them. It is also an essential aspect to enhance adherence to the social and moral status of senior citizens in their homes, while providing the necessary devices and equipment to improve their mobility and the quality of their home life. Al-Naqbi touched on social assistance, indicating that its categories include assistance to the dependent elderly, monthly assistance, exceptional assistance, assistance to the householder and the bedridden, in addition to supplementary assistance for retirees and urgent intervention services, pointing out that the number of beneficiaries reached 1800 people. He added that the Social Assistance Department provides the requirements for a decent life for the weak and less fortunate groups in society who are exposed to difficult social circumstances, as it works to enable them to confront their circumstances and reach a decent living through grants and monthly social assistance. He pointed out that the department is working to raise the economic level of families benefiting from social benefits and members of shelter homes by qualifying and empowering them with home production, and offering competitive products and services after training the beneficiary families or one of their members in home production. He stated that the center worked to encourage self-sufficiency and promote the idea of ​​home production because of its opportunities to increase the income of families benefiting from social assistance in the department and empower them, leading them to independence and a decent life, through an integrated system aimed at training and qualifying families benefiting from social assistance, and providing Opportunities to market their products through organizing exhibitions, and working to improve the products to raise their competitiveness, in order to meet the needs of the local market and offer products and services of competitive quality bearing the brand.
