Maryam Ibrahim Al-Qusayr, Director of the Department of Social Education in the department said, “During the Year of Giving 2017, the department was keen to present various programs to the largest possible number by dividing the work into four areas, including: providing programs for instilling noble moral values, prevention and protection programs, targeted awareness programs, and educational programs for events. Community and festivals organized by government agencies in the Emirate of Sharjah. Regarding prevention and protection programs, she added: The Social Education Department provides a self-defense program for children by educating them about the most important methods of self-defense, cessation of harm in the event that a child is exposed to any kind of abuse, and how to address it, and the awareness program “How to say no to those who harm you Which focuses in particular on how to educate children and protect them from any assault that they may be exposed to, and teach them to protect themselves from types of violence, beatings and sexual harassment, and train them to defend themselves by informing their families, or calling the free child helpline (800700), and the department is also concerned with educating parents Matters through the launch of the electronic program "Teach your child to say the word no", which enhances the protection of children by training parents and educating them on how to protect their children and training them to protect themselves from any assault or violence that they may be exposed to. Continuing in its awareness programs, which the Education Department focuses on by placing it from the beginning of the first year until the end to ensure that all members of society are aware of it with its multiplicity of types, and it promotes the social culture of the community. Al-Qusayr also confirmed that the department has a fingerprint of participation, awareness and education in the events and festivals that are organized in the Emirate of Sharjah, which diversified in the Sharjah Reading Festival for children by presenting (9) programs from the series of implanting values and competitions on the department’s platform, which benefited (8950) children. In addition to participating in the Sharjah International Book Fair, she presented (17) programs for (80) times for the benefit of (3236) children.
