The Ministry of Community Empowerment, represented by the Third Sector Regulation Sector, in cooperation with the Sharjah Department of Social Services, organized a specialized training course entitled "Risk Assessment: A Compass for Safe Performance in Combating Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing" at the Sharjah Private Education Authority. The course aimed to enhance the efficiency of public benefit institutions and strengthen their commitment to Federal Law No. (50) of 2023 and the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) standards. This was achieved through developing internal policies, activating the audit role, and implementing corporate control and compliance systems, in preparation for the country's mutual evaluation process in 2026. The workshop addressed several important topics, most notably the risk-based approach to assessment in the non-profit sector, mechanisms for measuring and managing risks associated with donations and financial transfers, verifying beneficiaries and donors, and preparing a self-assessment risk report. The workshop witnessed broad participation from employees of public benefit institutions in Sharjah, who emphasized the importance of such programs in supporting institutional performance and promoting a culture of governance and compliance. The workshop concluded with the distribution of participation certificates to attendees in recognition of their engagement and commitment to developing their skills in this field.
