The "Eid Joy Caravan", organized by the Sharjah Social Services Department, has been launched for 13 years as part of its ongoing efforts to bring happiness to children and promote community solidarity. The caravan usually tours government departments and private sector institutions before the Eid holidays (Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha) based on a request submitted by entities wishing to contribute to purchasing Eid clothes for children. Participants receive one of the 1500 boxes and purchase Eid clothes according to the registered information. The clothes are then returned to the Community Cohesion Department, the entity responsible for this initiative. In this context, Hessa Al Hammadi, Director of the Community Cohesion Department, said that the initiative falls within the framework of social responsibility projects and is divided into two parts. The first involves the contribution and participation of institutions and departments wishing to participate through the convoy. It lasts for about a month and ends before Eid Al Adha, when the sorting phase begins, leading to the delivery of gifts to the children. The second part involves displaying Eid Joy boxes in various shopping malls in the Emirate of Sharjah. They will currently be available at City Centre Al Zahia, Centre 06, and Al Rahmaniya Centre, making it easier for those wishing to participate to purchase clothes and gifts directly from the mall. Regarding the beneficiaries of this initiative, which, incidentally, increases in demand every Eid, it targets children from newborns to 18 years of age, children of beneficiaries of the department, as well as children residing in its care homes. The project is organized annually during Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha. Participation varies according to the participant's preference, whether in the form of gifts or cash Eidiya for the children. Al Hammadi emphasized that Eid joy brings happiness to children's hearts and revives the holiday spirit among families. This is one of the department's core strategies, which, through its projects and initiatives, strives to delight those benefiting from its services and enhance the quality of social life.
